After passing out from educational institute, all we think is about what to do, where to do job, what should I select and how. While universities nowadays just teach about applying jobs to few high companies. But, obviously, not all students/engineers can get jobs in those high companies. Also, nowadays, so many students do not know about working at ships. Working at ship is not a normal in the mind of university's graduates. In this article, we will discuss about how we can become an electrical officer at ship after graduation.

Many students just get degrees in electrical or electronics engineering and think they will get management position easily. While, employers need skilled engineers because they handle expensive machineries to those graduate engineers, so for getting demanding jobs, and value at job, we have to learn first, then start job. As, it is very famous quote that "First learn, then remove the 'L' from learn" (mean Earn). Anyway, so, let's discuss about how you can become an officer at ship after graduation. What skills you will need and how you can get those skills.

How To Become an ETO (Electro-Technical Officer)

I am writing in points, for easily understand every point. Read and understand every point, so you will get how to do everything. Let's begin.

1. If you are in bachelors studies, and studying in any university. I suggest you to start online learning in your field. You can learn free from YouTube as almost everything is available there in your own language. Also, we have other many platforms to get free courses online like Udemy Coursera etc..
2. If you have completed graduation from the university, just search for any "Marine workshop" in your city, and start from internship. Mostly, they do not pay to internees, but this is important, "Do not just think about getting internship certificate, think about how much skills you can learn from there". This is important. (Certificate is NOT important, your skills will make your valuable officer, remember this). This internship will take 5-6 months maximum, to make your skillful person.
3. After getting skills from workshop, now, this is the time, for searching and applying for job. Go to agencies, ask for job, share your profile with them etc etc. 
4. One more thing I would like to share as my experience, is that, "Technical officer is not only have good clothes glasses, etc. etc., but those are valuable officer who have good technical skills." Even those do not wear good clothes. (A ground reality according to working at ship).

Documents Require For Electro-Technical Officer at Ship

There is a small list of documents, required for electro-technical officer position, working at ship. These documents are necessary to becoming an ETO (Electro-Technical Officer). List are given below;

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronics. (Mechatronics in some cases).
• You must have Field Experience.
• Seaman Service Book (SSB) of ETO (Electro-Technical Officer) issued by government.
• Basic courses for working at ship.
• You can enroll free in this online ship electrical course.

Those, who work at ships, are known as seaman. If you want to work on ship at the position of ETO (Electro-Technical Officer), you must have some documents listed above.
