Requirement For Electrician in Marine Profession

The main requirement to join merchant navy and ship as an electrician are;


  1. Age limit in all cases will be 18 to 40 years.
  2. In medical status, he or she has fit eye sight and hearing ability. 
  3. You must have the nationality of the country from where you want apply.
  4. You should have these four safety courses certificates.
  5. Short course certificate of Personal Safety and Social Responsibility. 
  6. Short course certificate of Survival at Sea. 
  7. Short course certificate of Fire Fighting and 
  8. Short course certificate of First Aid.
  9. You must have a Minimum Secondary School Certificate/Equivalent.
  10. Three years Diploma from a Polytechnic Institution or technical college, in Electrical/Electronics Technology.
  11. You also have to submit a six months experience in the relevant field.





When you will have these all documents, just make them in a file and go to your country's shipping office or mercantile marine department in your country. Submit your file there and follow their instruction. They will usually ask for an oral exam related to your field and after that, you will have to do a medical test and then submit fees for seaman service book (SSB).




After receiving seaman service book from shipping department of your country, you can apply to different shipping companies for the job. Usually you can find jobs from agents in your country near to ports.
