How to Set Multiple Speed Frequency Setting in Delta VFD

In this article, we will discuss about how to set multiple speed frequency setting in delta VFD. You know, in your drive, you can give multiple free speed to the motor. For example, the motor is running at 9 hertz now and I want that when I apply any signal through PLC to the drive, the frequency of the drive should be changed to another fix frequency automatically.

That second set frequency should be active when I switch on any PLC terminal to the drive. So how we can do that, this is know as multiple speed frequency by the delta vfd. For setting the multiple speed on the drive, we have different parameters. Let me tell you the frequency parameter first.

In the delta VFD manual, there is a parameter 17 which says, first step speed frequency. As same as, parameter 18 is second step, parameter 19 is third step and till parameter 23 which is 7th step speed frequency. We will use two parameters only to check this functions, you can use all if required. Alright, We have changed the parameters of first and seconds parameters here. For that case, we will assign this to control terminals as shown below.

We use this two terminals "M3 and M4", we are assigning M3 as first step speed frequency and M4 as second step  speed frequency. Parameter 40 is for M3 and parameter 41 is for M4 which we are using here. Firstly, you have to assign prarmeters to M3 and M4, then you have to change the PLC programming which will give ground signal to M3 and M4 terminals stepwise, then you can check this function. Alright so...

You have to set "06" to parameter 40 and :07" to parameter 41. Then change the PLC program and check multiple speed frequency of Delta VFD.
