How to Reset External Fault in Delta VFD

In this article, we are going to learn about how to Reset External Fault in Delta VFD (variable frequency drive). Many time you may encountered some external faults, faults can be, a situation in which you do not want drive to run, in case of some high temperature you want drive to stop, some time you have a sensor that detect something and you want your motor to stop, and in this case, you want to display that on your drive, so how can you do that.

This can be done if you select one of your control terminal, let's say M3, as external fault normally close (NC). So what will happen if I give parameter 40 to "03" (which is external fault normally open), so what will happen, if M3 get supplied by the ground, you have to install a limit switch between M3 and ground, then if your limit switch is pressed, your drive will show a fault and your drive will stop.

So let's see how we can do that, put the value 03 to parameter number 40 and put value 05 to M4 (parameter 41). This m4 will reset the fault. Now when the error will occur, the drive will show "ER" which means external error in the drive/circuit. To reset that fault, your have to use M4, and fault will be removed automatically and your motor can be run again.
